Network (LHIN) supports this new direction in rural health care. In rural communities, hospitals can become health hubs that bring together services from other providers and offer a broad range of health and social services at one convenient location. This is an exciting initiative that further speaks to the Winchester Hospitals innovative leadership in health care.

WinchesWDMH Welcomes the Champlain Community Care Access Centre to Centre of Excellence in Rural Health and Education,eastern healter District Memorial Hospital (WDMH) and the Champlain Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) today announced that the CCAC will be the second tenant in the new health care building on the WDMH site.

As previously reported, a separate not-for-profit corporation has been established to build and manage this building, which while on hospital property, is not part of the hospitals operation. The new company will contract management services from the hospital. The new entity has a separate Board of Directors.

-The new stand-alone, single storey building will be developed on the southwest side of the hospital property and will include a separate offstreet entrance to Fred Street.

-The building will conform to environmentally friendly LEED standards and certification.

To date, the Champlain CCAC and the Eastern Ontario Health Unit have been confirmed as tenants in the new building. It will also house other health and community related service providers, who, in partnership with the hospital, serve the needs of our multiple rural communities.

-The building will be approximately 15,000 square feet.

The Champlain CCAC plays an important role in the health care system, connecting patients with care at home and in local communities, added Trudy Reid, CEO. They are a significant integrator within the region and a significant partner in our Centre of Excellence and WDMH will be able to support their local caring through partnerships with our Emergency Department, mily physicians and health teams such as physiotherapists and dietitians.

Member organizations should be non-profit in nature, and promote legal activities. Any organization found promoting illegal activities or commercial products or services will be deleted from the site.
